Reading Rainbow

Who won the 13th AND 14th annual WNET13 READING RAINBOW WRITERS AND ILLUSTRATORS contests?

Yes indeed, it was one of our own.

Chosen from 500 entries in New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, the winning story in 2007 was created by Shelby Lewis, a second grader at Progressive.

Her amazing story, KENDRA and the KENDROSAURUS CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, is an imaginative romp through a very serious topic.  But why listen to a review when you can read it online for yourself?

Just click here and you can see her delightful creation.

Way to go Shelby!

And, in 2008, Shelby won again!  She submitted another story with a social conscience: HOW PRINCESS GREENHOUSE ALMOST DESTROYED THE WORLD.
