PROGRESSIVE SCHOOL CELEBRATES 25 YEARS

The Progressive School of Long Island, a private school in North Merrick with students from the Bellmores, celebrated its 25th anniversary with a dinner celebration at the Coral House in Baldwin on April 21, 2010.
Roughly 400 students, staff and school supporters were treated to musical performances, theatrical presentations and a showcase of student artwork.  Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg, a Democrat from Merrick, even played himself in a play recounting the history of the school.
The Progressive School runs from kindergarten to eighth grade and focuses its curriculum around Neo-Humanism, which teachers universal love for all living things from people to plants.
SIDENOTE:  the day was declared Progressive School Day in a citation from the Nassau County Legislature, and the Director, Eric Jacobson, was honored with a citation for “25 years of selfless commitment to the community.”
