Upcoming: The STUVOL clothing drive continues all next week. Students will be performing music on December 21 to small groups of peers. We are unable to invite parents to this event, but it will be filmed for you enjoyment. K-4 performs at 9am, 5-8 performs at 10am–we will permit one parent to attend for each graduating 8th grader. We are closely watching the newly increasing numbers in the infection rate. The bad news is cases continue ticking up again, and we have a new variant to watch. 11/25/2021 DAILY CASES PER 100,000 14-DAY CHANGE DAILY DEATHS PER 100,000 14-DAY CHANGE Nassau County, N.Y. 39 +57% 0.11 +186% Pics of the Week We may not be able to start clubs in January as planned as the infection rate among unvaccinated people continues to increase in Nassau County. The school has been carrying the ball for two years now, but the most powerful weapon to fight Covid is now in your hands. The school may begin easing restrictions in the coming New Year, giving a couple of months for vaccinations to take place. This easing may include more interclass mixing. Review: While we’ve had many teachers and students get sick, it has been of the flu/strep throat variety, which is not to be taken lightly. One of our most beloved former teachers is back as a substitute after retiring from public school. We welcome back Nancy Masone, one of the smartest, sweetest and most philosophically aligned teachers in the history of Progressive School. So, if you hear about Ms. Nancy, you’ll know why! In the pics 6th graders show off geography projects and 2nd graders prepare their communities presentation.
