Spanish: Nelly Real-Korb
Ms. Nelly has been a Spanish teacher for 18 years, and she has 41 years of experience in the field of education. She has a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and Spanish from Queens College, a Master of Science in special education form Adelphi University, and a Professional Diploma in school supervision and administration from Fordham University. Ms. Nelly has visited over 25 nations, and she has coordinated high school student trips to foreign countries for many years. She has volunteered her teaching experience in Ecuador, Peru and Nepal. She is a teacher and the volunteer coordinator for the Buddhist Center KMC Long Island.
Ms. Nelly came to this country at the age of 15. She made her own way and has had a rich career as an elementary school teacher, a special education teacher, a Spanish teacher, a bilingual teacher, a special education evaluator, a supervisor of educational evaluators, and a chairperson for the Committee on Special Education in New York City. She feels that in her role at Progressive School she has been able to combine all her career knowledge into the position.
Ms. Nelly is married and has one son. She is a wise, caring, and extremely helpful person. She derives much of her personal strength through meditation, which she began to study years ago. She is now a committed volunteer at the Kadampa Meditation Center in Huntington.
