K/1: Sangeeta Patel

Sangeeta Patel was born and raised in Bombay, India. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature and early childhood education from a college there, she pursued a career working with small children and was inspired by this experience to continue to pursue her career in education in the United States. She received her Master of Arts degree in elementary education from St. John’s University, and in 1992 she accepted a position as a kindergarten teacher at the Progressive School of Long Island, where she has faithfully and very successfully taught kindergarten ever since.

She says that she loves working at Progressive and that she considers it as her “home.” Ms. Patel is the proud mother of two sons, one of whom attends college, the other of whom is a college graduate. She loves her family, and she especially enjoys cooking for them! Additionally, Ms. Patel likes to draw, listen to music, read, and travel. Progressive is very fortunate to have Ms. Patel as part of its teaching staff!  It is a true gift to have Sangeeta as a part of the Progressive family and it’s “soul.”
